More Than A Conqueror

More Than A Conqueror is a visual metaphor poster inspired by the article The Crossing” written by Monica Hesse.

In “The Crossing”, Dr. Corinne Stern, a medical examiner in Laredo, Texas, attempts to identify the remains of immigrant crossers 👩‍⚕️ 🔎. With the help of The Webb County medical examination office, they perform an autopsy on the bodies ⚰️with the hope they will be able to bring them back to their families 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 . While going through this physically and mentally tricky process, Dr. Stern begins to understand her purpose of working in the field 🧠💡; think about ends 🔚. By doing so, she not only does she eventually figure out the missing puzzle , but she also finds herself within it.

Throughout the article, the reader sees how responsibility for solving the mystery 🕵️‍♀️ between life within death has taken a toll on Stern. As a result, the story expresses the importance of the experiences, lives, and families of immigrants; they are worth fighting for 💕. My poster represents the legacy of others being passed on through generations using an heirloom, such as a locket 🗝 .
